On the nose, the aromas blend apple pie, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and cooked agave. The flavors are a continuation of that blend from the aroma, with notes of caramel entering the mix. A crisp caramelized apple finish that leaves behind lingering notes of baking spices and apricot.

Aroma of oak, pine, menthol, yeast, and faint burnt sugar. Flavor kind of the same up front bit then gives way to definite agave, spices, and reopens your nose to florals as you take more smells in. A bit of that heavy wood/tannin thickness that remains on the back of the palate like bourbons do but nothing unpleasant. A good example of a heavier XA that still retains tge agave without being bullied by the wood.

We love everything from this distillery/producer. This one is special, well structure and no one element over powers the other. For an Extra Anejo not overly sweet. Agave flavors show through and through. Very balanced

Aroma : Agave, oak, caramel, vanilla, citrus, and some light fruity notes. Taste : Light cooked agave with oak, peppercorns, chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, baking spices and nutmeg. The texture is oily and rich. Finish : Fairly long with vanilla, oak and fruity notes similar to the aroma. Very good, but loses points on value. (Found on Old Town Tequila for $249.99 USD)

The nose stills shows some agave. A lot of oak, cherryish with a nice fragrant aroma, with caramel, vanilla, fruit, chocolate and light butterscotch. Smoky with a hint of nutmeg, and cinnamon, along with pepper and spice. A deep rich nose. The taste is cooked agave, oak, fruit and butter, burnt caramel, vanilla, black pepper, cherries and honey. The finish is silky oak, fruit, and a long lengthy smoky finish. This extra anejo is amazing.

I’m not picking up a heap of agave but it pokes its nose out. Great fundamental flavours but a little too stingy for me to rate amongst the elite XA’s.

Mexican 38% version. Nose: Overripe fruit, cherries, barrel spices and rich agave notes. Round pleasing nose. Oakiness approaches it’s acceptable limits, but stays within bounds. Flavor: Spicy, peppery, with cider notes and vanilla. Nutmeg? Finish: Fruits, vanilla, honey and pepper linger. A rich mouth filling experience.

A small knock due to my value rating keeps this XA from being a 92 rated product. A new presentation is now available in the US but at a $100 increase in retail price this is not particularly a good value as there quite a few $100-150 products that will satisfy as well or better than this now $250 bottle that is for me, a now overpriced, at one time holy grail bottle. Such is life.

Like drinking tequila through a lit cigar. Love it. Top of the line of what might be my favorite tequila.

For some, this is some of the best extra anejo being made today. I agree that it is a great sipper, it's not one that makes me want to drink all night long. Its heavy wood approach brings a fair amount of spice but agave is still present. It's great as an after-dinner treat.

This XA retains its full agave flavor and carries a nice rounded mouth feel. Well done!

Been looking at this & thinking of buying it for 4 years. At $250 I stayed patient & finally found it at a bar in FL. Bartender didn't know what it was (it was full) & charged me $27 for 2oz pour. LOL. Was extremely good - compare it to Tears but it's not quite there. Still bomb.

Strong vanilla, pepper cinnamon caramel notes. It's a good extra anjeo but not one of my true favorites.

Lots of cinnamon and toasted wood. Little harsh but very complex. Pricey for what you get. Some heavy toasted agave notes. Not my cup of tea. Better on ice

Aged 5 years in American oak This extra añejo leads with a spicy oak profile followed quickly by cooked agave and earthy notes. Great for any brown spirits aficionado particularly scotch drinkers Created from a blend of Tequila produced in Fabrica el Centenario and Fabrica La Vencedora priced around $315-350

Lote: L7617, bottled on 10/08/2017, marbete from year 2016. Color: light yellow. Aroma: minty, light sweet cooked agave, wood spiciness, very light vanilla, 15 minutes in the glass the agave aroma becomes sweeter and the wood notes become slightly astringent. Palate: light sweet cooked agave, minty, wood spiciness, vanilla. Finish is medium to long, the light sweet agave and light wood spiciness persist.

3rd purchase over a 10yr period; one of the best EA’s out there. Heavy spice on the nose, warm vanilla, caramel across the palate; long notes of more spice & slight pepper across the backend; this is an excellent bottle, the only weakness is the $250 price point;
