Have tried very few XA from NOM 1414, but his profile was very old school and tasty. Minor oaky presence, with notes apple, cider, baking spices, cooked agave is still prominent and everything is very harmonious

This añejo tequila is exceptionally tasty, boasting a harmonious blend of baking spices, fruits, barrel spice, and subtle cooked agave notes. The profile is well-crafted, offering a delightful and complex taste that underscores the quality of the spirit.

In this reposado tequila, a subtle aroma precedes a light agave flavor complemented by hints of baking spice and vanilla. The sweetness is finely tuned, making it a smooth and easy-to-drink choice with a pleasing balance of flavors.

This blanco tequila presents a subtle aroma with a light agave flavor. Herbal and minty notes contribute to its profile, and the sweetness is well-balanced, making it an easy-to-drink choice

This grew on me as it sat in the glass for a bit and my palate adjusted to what I was tasting. Intial thoughts for a rating were at least 5 points lower distributed -2, -1, -2 for aroma, taste, finish. The XA category has changed significantly since this came to market back in the late 00s. Extra Añejo seems to have matured as a category and many brands don't follow what was once a cookie cutter approach of using a recently received barrel with lots of active char and aging for 3 years or more and then just bottling. This route was taken by many brands at the time and is mirrored in this product as well. Some natural sweetness as well as oak and caramel and after 10 minutes or so and a couple of small sips showed some agave layered with that pepper note from the Blanco. Unlike the Blanco this seems soft and a little watered down at 35%. NOM 1479

NOM 1479. This is just OK and tastes diluted as I feel most 35% product does. This Reposado needs to have more barrel spice going to offset the low ABV. Blanco is better for me.

NOM 1479 from a Craigslist ad once upon a time. A back door mail order deal at a time when stuff like that was more closeted. Bottles are similar to the current 1414 but are all 35% ABV 700ml and no export stamps. Citrus, agave and some ethanol on the nose. In the mouth this white pepper, roast agave and a nice light viscosity. The tongue tingling spice belies the 35%. This has held up well.
