This is an interesting Reposado from Groupo Tequilero de Los Altos, makers of Aha Toro/Yeto products. Has a nice bite from the habanero and some caramel and agave notes when sipped straight. Tingle and heat from the pepper holds on for several minutes.

This is a Habanero infused Reposado. Nose: Cool cucumber, faint agave, light warm spices, faint baked pineapple, hint of dry oak and slight citrus rinds. Taste: Warm cinnamon cooked agave before a hint of slightly fruity citrus. There a slight sweetness on the mid-palette. Then the capsaicins kick in. The pepper oils brings in a nice peppery presence. Finish: Not only do you taste the habanero pepper but it adds a nice peppery finish with a pleasant pepper tingle. The Habanero is there but it isn’t overpowering. You can sip this tequila but it’ll truly excel in a cocktail. Salud!

This was surprisingly good, second drink was even better with that hint of habanero. I tasted this with The owner of this tequila brand and he swore that this is additive free and I believe him. Definitely a must try. Needs a better name, like Tequinero. I usually don’t drink infused tequilas but I made an exception on this occasion.

I picked this up for $23 thinking for the money, it could be decent for spicy margaritas. I was very pleasantly surprised. This tequila is decent enough to sip. It’s not complex, but it doesn’t have the artificial taste of Tanteo, which is the reason I wanted to submit a review. I personally feel like the margarita needs the addition of a fresh chili, but it does have a slight bit of heat on the finish if you prefer something a little more mild. I think it’s a great value if you’re looking to kick your margaritas or ranch water up a notch.

The smell is quite pleasant, a subtle but nice mix of floral notes (maybe some Jasmine?) and fruity undertones, most noticeably pineapple. It's a reposado so a bit of vanilla, butter, oak are present along with a bit of spearmint. It's an easygoing aroma that doesn't try to impress and surprisingly doesn't have any habañero smell despite the infusion albeit you can definitely catch whiffs of some spiciness as well. The flavor is pleasant but like the aroma understated. Pineapple intermingles with the vanilla, butter and oak woody flavors. The mid palate has the pineapple gain vigor along with the agave. A bit watery and unpresuming. But where this Tequila shines is the absolutely magnificent finish. The pineapple and agave reach a crescendo giving way to a crisp burst of capsaicin with the habañero finally makes it's presence known giving this a pleasant kick that lasts for a good minute and a half. I just wish you could taste more of the habañero and being honest, this is more of an easy sipper for the poolside. It's begging to be mixed and it makes for some amazing margaritas. Excellent mixer to have on hand.
