Not bad. Although I found it oaky and a little thin, it's still a decent sipper that goes well after a steak dinner with a cigar. This is from the limited 1st release.

Caramel, woodsy, cinnamon, an excellent sipper with a little kick

Tasted at El Búho. Trace smokiness follows from the blanco. Lots of oak.

Tasting side-by-side with Rey Sol and Suerte Crown...immediately I notice how dark this XA is in the glass. Looks a whole lot like bourbon (which to my taste does not bode well). The aroma has a LOT of barrel and a little cherry continuing the bourbon theme. Pleasantly surprised by the flavor...there is definitely plenty of oak but also a fruity sweetness and a quick bite of spice at the end. For all the apparent power, the finish is relatively short. This one is probably barrel-heavy for my taste but not the wood chipper I was expecting. A fine sipper for some and a very reasonable price point.

Just a ton of wood on the palate which I am not a fan of in general. Not particularly sweet or syrupy there is a strange amalgam of French oak spice and aromas as well as American oak elements like someone poured already aged bourbon into a sherry cask. Some will enjoy this profile but it left me pulling wood splinters from my tongue. The cork is weird in that I had to use a corkscrew to remove it and then find a replacement. Weird, really weird.

Because of the barreling in previous red wine use French Oak Medium char + barrels for 2 years, and then finished for 1 year in American oak with a very heavy char, as well as other aging techniques, there's a delicious cherry, honey, sweet, lightly roasted nuts, smokey and fruity flavor throughout. No syrupy, sugary artificially sweet aftertaste, like other products from this distillery. At $69 for this XA....it really is a steal.

Gran Reserva de Don Alberta XA is full of dried fruit, vanilla with bold whiskey notes. Although this sip fairly smooth, the balance of flavors is touch off. For an XA, this is an affordable pick up ($89 @ Sip Tequila).

Tastes like it has additives as a disclaimer. Very sweet, similar notes to a Sherry cask scotch. Candied fruits, slight agave but not vegetal. Light finish.

A Christmas tequila in a glass. This has notes of cooked agave, morello cherries, dark chocolate, mulled wine, cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, almonds, brown sugar, pecans, oranges, raisins, dates, figs, and green chili pepper with nothing overpowering each other. A gateway tequila for fans of Sherry cask whisky.

Great color for an EA. Caramel, cherry, agave are up front with a great finish.

Starts with vanilla and cooked agave, then moves to cherry and mild sweetness. Long oak flavored finish. Very smooth.

Has what I think is a nice long finish. Starts with plenty of agave and vanilla and rolls on the tongue with a bit of oak present. great value.

With a bit more bite to it than others from 1477, the packaging alone on this item is worth 80pts. It’s got a beautiful color, and in our house we pour this for a lot of our whiskey drinking friends. Even though it rests for two years in wine barrels the charred spice characteristics you get reflect the -2 months its moved into more traditional finishing barrels.

Aroma is nice with oak and reminds me of a whiskey/bourbon with some queues of cherry and maybe wine? This isn’t sweet like most in this Xtra category. I actually like this one and is a nice mix between tequila and bourbon. Only thing that isn’t the greatest is the cork - I had to use another stopper. Price for the bottle is really good Cost $69.99 + $6.17 shipping
