NOM 1616 | Tried a couple different single barrel offerings, each different with one clear winner. The agave shined through on the nose with vanilla notes on the palate and a soft finish. It was enjoyable but price really hurts this brand. I would buy a bottle but it would not be kept in regular rotation.

1500 Tastings June 26 2022 NOM 1500 CÓDIGO EXPRESSIONS REPO Lote L031REP40 NOSE Brown sugar brandy whisky oak vanilla, Creme Brule TASTE Sweet caramel oak FINISH Short with a slight warmth, subtle with thick legs OTHER We got these Códigos when they first introduced em. I wanna say 2016/17?!? Bottles have been open for awhile with about 1/4 left in each so may have affected the aroma and taste ??? I'm unsure of the production methods of these NOM 1500 codigo expressions. TMM lists the new NOM 1616 production methods. I have read that the anejo was aged 18 mos in French oak cab barrels? OVERALL, I can see how people would enjoy these Código 1500 tequilas. Easy sippers. Just a little pricey for what it is

NOM 1616 | Great Lakes Tequila Club private barrel (2023): Aromas of this tequila start off with agave, orange rind, and some yeast, and reveal notes of flowers and fresh rain. Tasting brings out the cooked agave, baking spice, orange zest, slight oak and vanilla. It’s got a nice golden color from the charred French Cabernet barrels, but it’s not overly sweet. There’s some really nice long legs clinging to the glass, with a relatively short finish still welcoming to newcomers. This one really opened up and evolved as I sat with it, the yeasty notes dissipated as the citrus and sweeter notes appear. Rating = 87 Regular (Blended) Repo: Oak, orange peel, vanilla, earth, slight bitterness, and a touch of funk. Rating = 84 Other Single Barrels: had 3 different barrels recently and rate them 82, 85, 87. Lots of variation. One was earthy, another vanilla forward, and third nicely mid-range with some agave, pepper, and vanilla.

NOM 1500 | Loads of pack and vanilla on this one. Agave flavors on the front end and loads of pepper with a long finish.

NOM 1500 | Aroma: Strong notes of agave, oak, and smoke. Taste: Smooth, the oak is very present, with nice hints of vanilla. Finish: Smoky, with a bite of the alcohol at the end. Overall: A very nice, clean reposado. The strength of the oak may put some people off, but I find it delicious.

NOM 1500 | I like the Codigo 1530 line of tequilas. This one unfortunately is my least favorite. A little harsh, but agave shows well.

NOM 1500 | The oak treatment has really muted the sweetness, this has achieved much more balance and I’m a huge fan! If you’re looking for a subtle fan favourite this might be it.

NOM 1500 | Similar sweet, vegetal nose as the blanco with traces of butterscotch and citrus. Light body, I get cooked agave followed by barrel notes on low volume.. some caramel and oak. Followed by a touch of pepper, the finish is short and the heat hangs in the back of the mouth.

NOM 1500 | Great offering but almost priced a little high. Citrus notes, agave forward, a touch of oak and vanilla, not overly sweet.

NOM 1500 | I like this better than the blanco as the edges have been rounded off a bit. Still spicy on sipping there is caramel, toffee, barrel spice of oak and custard. This tastes aged enough to be an anejo actually. Interesting and not cookie cutter.

NOM 1500 | This is a somewhat pleasant tequila but it's a bit overpriced. Yet another celebrity brand--this is from George Strait.

My absolute go too. Additive free and the agave really shines here, slight burn on the finish that dissipates very quickly, this is all agave and the way it should be in my opinion. I would give taste notes but I honestly can't get over how in your face the agave is to find anything else in this gem.

NOM 1616 | Noticeable barrel influence. Very sweet on the nose with scent of oak, caramel, & spice. Palate - agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, & black pepper.

Aromas of raw agave, mint, minerals, blackberry and lime. Smells fresh and refreshing - like sprite. Flavor is somewhat boring (not complex). Flavors of raw agave, wet grass, and white pepper. Nice smooth lasting oily finish.

NOM 1616 | Vanilla on the nose but no vanilla flavor. I didn’t find this overly smoky like others have. The finish is short but that’s a good thing here. Wasn’t too impressed

NOM 1616 | With the aroma, at first, the ethyl is almost non-existent but if you keep searching you will get more alcohol in the nose. Honey, caramel, agave ,light oak, consistent Codigo yeast, earth, crisp and fresh minerality rounds out the presentation. On the tongue I got barrel spice, ethyl, and whisky tones taking up the bulk of the initial taste. Agave, earthy, vegetal, green bell pepper, brine, crisp, light oak, light caramel tones pull through but the peppery spice is unshakeable until the fading finish. The finish is not short with agave, traces of whisky, light brine, light oak, and fading spices.
