Little musk and funk on the nose, green apple and black licorice. Notes of orange peel, cinnamon and spice, ends with white pepper and a pretty long finish. At home in a cocktail

A Fruity & Spicy tequila. Aroma: cooked agave, green apple, dill, ripe plantain, and marzipan. Palate; peppercorns and butternut squash with some Black pepper.

I can’t get past that proprietary yeast, it’s a pretty honest effort from Cofradia and one of the better products I’ve tried. Still not recommended, if this. Rand wants to be taken seriously they should find an alternate producer.

It’s a bit hot on the finish, but it’s also high octane tequila. I like it!

NOM 1137- Aromas of cinnamon, pepper, and spice, with minerals, and a musty aroma, with citrus, vegetal, floral and some anise (licorice) notes. It has a potent taste with a hot cinnamon presence and a musty, sharp, mild fruit, citrus and spice presence, along with some sweet agave notes. It is pleasant enough to sip, but in a hi-proof cocktail, this agave sweetness and alcohol punch, would cut through the mixed flavors and add a tasty zest. Decent price for an over proof blanco.

Sharp aroma with agave and noticeable alcohol sting. Also, a bit of an unpleasant rubber-like note. Flavor is rich and full with cinnamon, black pepper and a hint of fruit sweetness. The finish is short. 6/29/2017

Strong agave flavor, maybe a tad harsh for my taste.

This tequila needs time to open up like many other Blanco's I have found. I believe the sharpness will go away and the agave will come forward.

Fruity alcohol on the nose. A lot of pepper on the palate—took me by surprise, too. Sort of a medicinal taste to it, which isn’t particularly pleasant, but there’s some citrus that redeems it a tad. A long finish that’s just a straight up burn. Not that enjoyable, if I’m being honest.

This is the new release from Diagio. Worst tequila I have ever had. Aroma and palate just like a sharpie marker. I get no agave just straight sharpie. Do not buy whatever you do. No picture on here yet but it’s a navy blue label with a powder blue letter A and agave logo on the front. Only reason I bought it was because I saw the reviews from the old discontinued release.

NOM 1607 | Lingering alcohol taste and finish. Initial nose is light and crisp agave but the taste quickly just fades to alcohol only. It was on sale but if I paid full price for this one $35 instead of $23 I’d be kinda upset. There’s far better out there for the same price

Astral Blanco $25 USD (Virginia) Summary: Decent budget sipper at it's current price point, however, I haven't tried as a mixer.  Once I get past the neck pour and let this open up, this really took a favorable and unexpected turn.  Nose: Starts off soft and pleasant , but dominated with by its chalky minerality, followed up with marzipan and raw agave.  I also get  green apple, anise, celery, mint with traces of white pepper, jalapeno, and under-ripe pear.  This gets better with a little time in the glass.  Taste:  Great entry, albeit a little thin. The blanco begins with a pleasant pop of black pepper and a slight bit of minerality.  While there is no sweetness on the entry,  the agave sweetness builds along with hot cinnamon, grapefruit peel, black pepper, anise and mint.  Finish: Builds to a warm and buttery finish with lingering pepper and cinnamon spices.

NOM 1137 | Found NOM 1137 on shelf in local restaurant and sipped. I usually don’t do well w/ high proof, but this was good.

NOM 1607 | Astral Blanco NOM 1607 On the nose is a faint chocolate aroma mingled with some light citrus and pronounced alcohol. The taste and finish are similar with an additional baked cocoa powder and some light cinnamon with a good amount of light roasted agave. Overall I would say it tastes unobjectionable and additive free and it is priced fairly too. Perfect for mixing.

NOM 1607 | Nom 1607 Bought with a coupon , 15 bucks. Poured in glencarin glass, just opened Appearance-clear Aroma-ethanol, floral, dried chrysanthemum, green vegetable Taste- round agave, olive, some butter popcorn in the back, tasted savory, heat builds up as it progresses through the palate. Unique tequila, seems like it can be better. Gonna try it in a blind tasting…

Cooked agave, peppery, but burnt. Alcohol burn was very apparent. Sip, and burn after. I can see it’s value as a mixer. But, not a sipper for me

I was surprised with this one. Bright agave with a slight citrus and black pepper finish. The price on this one is also a good value (at least in my area) and I recommend it for shots or margaritas.

Astral Tequila - It's 'Interesting'

For the money, Astral Tequila is a good high proof, clean blanco. As a sipper it could be a little rough around the edges, but perfect for a high quality mixed cocktail. So keep drinking tequila, and as Jonathan would say.... Stay thirsty my friends.

Blanco Tequila: The Great Divide

While the panel’s favorites were complex, elemental and intriguing, we were troubled by a lack of intensity in many of the bottles as well as by a sense of artificiality in some. As Florence put it, we found a great divide between those tequilas we liked

Tequilas worth a shot (or sip)

When it comes to tequila, the basic choice is simple: 100% agave, or not 100% agave. Of course, this is like saying that when it comes to music, there’s Mozart or there’s a guy named Steve-O playing the kazoo version of Eine kleine Nachtmusik alone in a b
