Nose: Interesting aromas wafting out of my jarrito: Fruit and oak. A lactic note, and farm-like smells, perhaps mushrooms in compost. There is caramel and spice; and a slight sour, pickle like undercurrent with dill. Flavor: Oak and peppery entrance. Subdued caramel or butterscotch. Flavors are tamer than anticipated. A slightly watered down feel in the mouth, but the pepper heat lingers nicely.

Bottle from mid 2K's. This has an earthy mushroom nose accompanied by some medicinal alcohol and wood notes. In the mouth the earth and spice come right to the top along with some agave and this ends with a pleasing slightly sweet buzzy finish.

Tasted at the distillery itself in El Arenal, Jalisco. Props to the unique packaging.
