Golden hue. Nose starts with wood, fruit, and agave notes. Next layer suggests pine and aged cheese. Palate notes: Butterscotch, white pepper, agave, rosemary and almonds at the tail end. The French oak makes it’s presence known. Nice balance of all. A tiny bitter note sneaks in too. Longish peppery and rewarding finish.

Mexican 38% abv. version, no lot codes, marbete is from 2011, tasted on 4-1-24. Color: brown to light brown. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, slightly earthy, hint of wood note, hint of black pepper, it has an aroma that took me 5 tastings in different occasions to pin point it and that is: Spanish Teruel black truffles! Quite rare and special but weird in a tequila. Hint of mint. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, Teruel black truffle is evident on the palate and more expressive through my retronasal! Thick mouthfeel. Finish is medium to long, hint of cooked agave with a hint of dark honey that is probably from the agave and light earthiness with the black truffle notes persist.

Another great tequila from NOM1146. The whole Pura Sangre line never fails to impress me . This is a great real anejo from the master . Tons of flavor from start to finish with the agave riding all the way. No need to impart whisky or bourbon flavors.
