Smells of agave and green apples …. Burrs of citrus or grape fruit on the mouth …..Minerality some sweetness like some vanilla or butterscotch

Very light on the taste. Agave, slight vegetal, little tart citrus, little vanilla with white pepper

Herbal, minty, floral.....there is a lot going on here but it all works well together. I feel like this really opens up after a meal, I don’t classify many tequilas as “food necessary” but I highly recommend with this.

I don't care for this. Disappointed Maybe it will come around. I hope Grover is right, I'm letting it set.

Lots of white pepper in the mouth and some floral and fruity notes on the nose.

I concur with previous reviews. The initial pour has a strong nose and mouth of alcohol as Chris states, and greatly improves after opening up, as Grover says. After allowing ample time to open up, it has a nose of agave with a hint of fruit. The mouthfeel is wet and slightly viscous; smooth. Flavor of mild agave and light pepper; mild, but not without some character. It really shines in the finish though. A large wet pepper/spice feel the lingers. I paid $47 for this and feel like there are better options at this price point (and lower), but on a bar full of mass-market brands, I would certainly order a pour of this.

For maximum enjoyment, pour this into a glass and let it sit there in the glass for 30 minutes. It needs time to open up.

Aroma is a bit overpowering (strong alcohol). Good agave flavor with hints of mint and juniper??? Good, long finish.

Thick neck bottle, double distilled version with virgin French oak shavings in a cheesecloth tea-bag for 45 days. Agave and almost a lite Reposado (some oak) on the nose. Wonderful, buttery mouthfeel, and tasty spicy agave with a nice warm finish. This is real easy to sip - be careful!

This is a nice surprise. Good stuff. Very well balanced. Aroma is good. Taste is really nice and dry. No extra flavors just tequila/agave. Finish is good too. This is an unfancy Blanco that is solid and unpretentious-just tequila. Good aromas and flavors.

I like this one. It’s got a bit of a zing but that is mellowed out by the oily mess. Ummmm- agave. And….my rating is spot on with the community and the panel. We may need to add this to our Blanco collection

I always ask myself..... Is this good tequila. This is indeed good tequila. Agree with numerous other ratings. Much going on with this. Much good flavour. But upon immediate opening has an odour and taste of alcohol ear swabs. After 30 minutes resting it is MUCH better. This is a complex tequila. Rebellious. Update - August, 2020. A new bottle camping in Alberta. Agree with earlier review. Good. But rebellious. As good as Olmeca Altos and in some ways better. But much more expensive. Some ways worse. Beautiful bottle. Excellent viscous finish. Definitely recommend just to say that you had it. Interesting tequila. On the empty glass I get a black licorice aroma.

Review #171 - Crotalo Tequila Plata Blanco

Crotalo is a fairly new kid on the block, but has created quite a following with a number of awards. I've had the Extra Anejo and the Reposado...and was looking forward to trying the base of the entire line.
